Top Film & Television Apps on iOS in South Africa: Q4 2024

The fourth quarter of 2024 saw varied performances among the top film and television apps in South Africa on the iOS platform. According to Sensor Tower, these apps show distinct trends in downloads and active users.

Nu Metro Cinema experienced a steady increase in downloads. Starting at 234 in early October, the app saw a significant rise, peaking at over 593 downloads by late November. This upward trend continued, maintaining over 500 downloads per week through December.

Ster-Kinekor, launched in late October, started with modest download numbers. However, it quickly gained traction, reaching over 100 downloads in mid-November and maintaining this momentum through the end of the year.

TodayTix – Broadway Tickets had a more fluctuating download pattern, ranging from 13 to 48 downloads weekly. The app's active users showed a slight decline from 263 at the start of the quarter to 191 by the end.

The VOX Cinemas App had low download numbers, with only a handful each week. However, its active user base remained relatively stable, hovering around 60 throughout the quarter.

Finally, Roxy Cinemas UAE saw minimal activity, with consistent download numbers at just one per week during December.
